The Expansion pack for Rockstar's "Red Dead Redemption" titled "Undead Nightmare" review.
Undead Nightmare follows the exploits of John Marston, as he looks to find a cure for an infectious zombie plague that has swept across the American Old West.
-Visuals- 10/10
The graphics are of the same great quality of the main game.
But the overall theme of the graphics is very different. In the main game you got the sunny, old west kinda feel from the environment.
In Undead Nightmare the moon always glows in an spooky green, and the sky's always look a bit darker than usual. It all adds up to create a truly magnificent horror environment.
-Sound- 10/10
The best thing about the new sounds, and music in Undead Nightmare is that they are all basically the same as the main game, But warped to something completely different. The sounds accompany the scary environment in such a beautiful way It will send chills down your spine.
-Gameplay- 9/10
Gameplay remains the same. There's a few new things to do, like burning coffins, and saving zombie infested towns.
-Story- 8/10
Being a big horror story fan I genuinely enjoyed the Undead Nightmare story from start to finish.
The only real thing i dislike Is the encounters you face with old acquaintances from the first game. While fun as they are, most of them do very little to advance the story, and are far too short lived to make a big impact on the player.
-Overall- 9/10
By far one of the best expansions ever for a game. You are not restrained by a small area, or a set storyline. You are free to roam the haunted lands of the old west In a wonderfully scary, and weird environment where you can never truly feel safe.
Apart from the story, there are a lot of fun, new additions to the game including a Bigfoot encounter you might not see coming, 4 new weapons including a Blunderbuss, Holy Water, and Zombie bait, and lots more.
And my personal favorite: The 4 Horses of the Apocalypse.
4 unique horses you can find, and tame in the wild, War, Famine, Pestilence, And Death. Each with It's own unique ability that greatly helps you fight the never ending zombie hordes.
